A Jaw-Dropping Scotland Elopement (why the rain is your friend)

If you’re considering a Scotland elopement you won’t be disappointed, with its vast landscapes, incredible cities, and the friendliest people. If there is one other thing that Scotland is known for, it’s rain. Rain creates a whole different mood, which is why movies often use it to impact scenes. It can make everything that much more intimate and romantic, along with showing how you two embrace life by running around having the best time getting soaked together. If you’re wondering what the weather will be like for your own elopement use this site that the Scottish locals do; “taps oan”. It’ll tell you if the weather requires tops-on, or if you can go tops off (or like the Scottish say it, “taps-aff”).

This is exactly what Natalia & Kyle did. The day prior to their Scotland elopement there were clear skies and we got to experience the most beautiful sunset in Fort William. The day of their elopement was a bit more of an adventure. Experiencing all four seasons that day Natalia & Kyle decided to say eff it and embraced the unpredictable weather. Chasing each other around fields, trying to pet sheep, and keeping each other warm in-between.

The Isle of Skye was the best backdrop for their elopement! Natalia & Kyle are not only avid travellers, but huge animal lovers. Everywhere in the Isle of Skye is full of sheep, not only in fenced in farms but along random roads and paths. It’s safe to say that these two were very excited to be able to see sheep even if it proved impossible to pet them.

If researching Scotland, or where to elope in Scotland the Isle of Skye will quickly pop-up as a place that you must visit. It is simply incredible with it’s seaside cliffs, mountains and rivers, and all of the windy roads to get to each.

The roads in the Isle of Skye are sometimes only wide enough for 1 vehicle. It’s important to take your time and if you see a vehicle coming to pull off into a passing place (there are several every few metres). You won’t be rushing anyways though, the sites are enough to keep you at a slow pace wanting to take in as much of it as possible.

These two made the most out of their entire day and truly show how beautiful Scotland is in both rain and sunshine. So, if you’re looking for inspiration on what an elopement in Scotland could look like you’re in the right place.

Pro tip: If you’re expecting the weather to be a bit colder you can wear warm tights under your attire (dress, suit, etc.). Choose a colour that you won’t be able to see and you’ll be all set!
